Burns Bog Conservation Society welcomes returning guest Aline LaFlamme and the Daughters of the Drum to perform at the Burns Bog Conservation Society’s 10th Annual Earth Day Pilgrimage on April 23, 2017. This event is a favorite of the Society as well as returning performers Aline LaFlamme and the Daughters of the Drum.
The Earth Day Pilgrimage is an enjoyable way for all families, cultures, and beliefs, to discover the importance of Burns Bog – the largest undeveloped urban wilderness in North America! “[Burns Bog] is a cleansing and healing filter that enhances the health of all of us. This is why I want to be at the Pilgrimage each year, rain or shine,” states Aline Laflamme, of Daughters of the Drum. The Society looks forward to the Daughters of the Drum’s performance at the Pilgrimage each year.
The goal of the Pilgrimage is to raise awareness for Burns Bog as an important peatland, and to educate people about the spiritually enriching elements of our local natural spaces. Peatlands are a crucial part of our ecosystem and must be protected. Although peatlands are located on every continent except Antarctica they only cover 3% of the world’s land space. This spiritual walk through the Delta Nature Reserve features a variety of entertainment, while enjoying the beauty of the natural setting. You, your family, and your friends are welcome to enjoy the calmness and serenity that comes from spending time in Burns Bog.
“The Earth Day Pilgrimage is a beautiful way of honoring our relatives of the Winged Ones, the Four-Legged, those that live in the water, those that crawl in and on the earth, [and] the Rooted Ones among others,” states Laflamme. The Society invites you to connect with nature as you celebrate Earth Day by getting outside. Help to spread awareness about an important natural space in your backyard – Burns Bog! The 10th annual “Earth Day Pilgrimage to Burns Bog” will be held from 2-4pm on April 23,2017 in the Delta Nature Reserve (10388 Nordel Court). Bring your family and friends for a fun, free way to celebrate the Earth. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.
