The Burns Bog Conservation Society receives no core funding from government sources.
The Society relies on you to help continue the fight to save Burns Bog. Donations are tax deductible.
Our charitable tax number is 12916 6682 RR0001.
There are many ways to give:
- A tax-deductible financial gift may be made in one lump sum, given on a monthly basis or stretched over a period of years.
- For the person who has everything and who enjoys the beauty of the bog, send a gift to the Society in their name. If you have no need for more material gifts, request that your birthday and holiday presents be made in the form of a gift to the Society.
- Put up a memorial bench in memory of a loved one.
- Leave a gift to the Society in your Will. You can leave a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your assets.
- Name the Burns Bog Conservation Society a beneficiary of your insurance policy, RRSP, RRIF, pension, annuity or other account, including stocks, mutual funds, term deposits, real estate and bonds. You can also use assets such as jewelry as gifts. Contact your financial planner or lawyer and let your family know about your decision.
- Contribute to the Society's Endowment Fund.
You can also help the Society by holding your own fundraiser! Here are many entertaining ways to encourage your friends, family, colleagues and fellow students to support a worthwhile cause:
- Hold a garage sale, craft sale, book sale, etc. and send the proceeds to the Society.
In July 2005 we received $450 from the Hiking Club’s garage sale. Thank you!
- If you live in Tsawwassen, collect your bottles and cans. Return them to your local Tsawwassen “Return It” depot. Proceeds come directly to the Society.
Kilarney Secondary School collected and returned their pop cans (independently of the Tsawwassen Return It) and in one year collected $1500 for the Society. Thank you Kilarney Secondary students!
- Old cell phones create electronic waste that leach toxic metals into the soil. Don’t throw out your old cell phone! Drop it off or send it to the Society so we can get the recycle refund.
- Schools: hold a penny drive or a bake sale. Find a fundraiser that builds teamwork, encourages organization and that raises money so the Society can continue its work.
- Fundraising Events: Use the Society as an excuse to hold a party! Put on a birthday party, BBQ, pancake breakfast, brunch, cocktail party, Dinner-With-A-Cause, or Open House and charge a fee to fundraise for the Society.
Not sure how to organize your event? Contact the Society and we will help you. We will also send you envelopes, donation forms, invitations and thank-you cards.
