If you have been reading the local newspapers you are aware that Burns Bog is up for sale. Signs at 72nd Avenue, Delta, say, “Court Ordered Sale. Asking $85 million.” The mortgage held by the British Columbia government must be paid by January 31, 2004.

Regardless, of what happens, the role of the Burns Bog Conservation Society which is to:

• Facilitate the ecological integrity of Burns Bog for future generations
• Carry out educational programs and to enhance public enjoyment and appreciation of Burns Bog and provide facilities will continue.

Your continued support will help us to continue:

• Stewarding the Delta Nature Reserve (the “lagg” or edge of Burns Bog) by building and maintaining boardwalks and removing exotic species.
• Providing educational programs to schools and youth groups through tours, educational material, presentations and summer day camps.
• Hosting special events like “Celebrating Women & the Spirit of the Cranes,” “International Bog Day,” “Walk/Jog for the Bog as well as some new events.
• Building awareness about the need to protect our precious peatlands including Burns Bog.

Your past help has brought Burns Bog to international attention and raised support for its protection to an all-time high in the Lower Mainland. Your continued support will ensure its continued protection.
